Not everything you see or read on the internet is true. In fact, your internet may be lying to you on purpose!
Misinformation or disinformation can be found all over the internet. The image on this post is one example. And while sometimes it can be humorous, the prevalence of it on the internet can be dangerous.
Based on how you use the internet, you may become a target for misinformation. Seniors are the most targeted age group, but teens are not that far behind. You may not be sure if what you see is true or not...but you can learn how to check.
During this informal and fun discussion hour, we’ll share examples of misinformation, talk about the common types of misinformation, the reasons why it exists, and how you can prevent yourself from falling for it.
Please feel free to come with examples of your own, or things you aren't sure about, and we’ll fact check them.
